Committee role descriptions
Chairman
Leads all committee meetings and the AGM, writes an editorial in the monthly Gazette, and generally fulfils the role of executive lead on any issue requiring higher level intervention, along with general support to all committee roles.
Secretary
Responsible for organisation of committee meetings and AGM and for committee minutes. Channel through which correspondence reaches members of the committee. General co-ordination of committee matters and frequent representative for the Association at outside meetings.
Treasurer
Management of all income, expenditure and our Bank accounts. Preparation of accounts and balance sheet. Liaison with our Banks and our Auditor.
Business Liaison
To maintain regular contact with the Petts Wood Business Association to promote joint working in all areas where our aims and objectives are the same.
Education
Maintaining a close working relationship with local educational establishments and Council officers in order to represent the educational interests of all our members.
Environment
Monitoring of all matters related to parks, trees, grass areas and the environment in general in liaison with Council officers. Advice to members on recycling matters. Maintenance of the Gazette ‘Diary’ section.
Health
Monitoring and advising on all health-related matters.
Membership
Maintenance of member records, new member recruitment, management of the Distributor and Road Steward networks.
National Trust
To monitor the activities of the National Trust Petts Wood and Hawkwood Management Committee to ensure the interests of our members are best represented.
Planning and APCA
Monitoring planning and licensing applications, recommending actions, providing general planning guidance to members, liaison with Council planning team members.
Police and Crime Prevention
Member of the Safer Neighbourhood Police Panel, liaison with local police team and Crime Prevention Officers. Represents the Association on Flightpath.
Public Transport
Liaison with local public transport service providers and Council officers, monitoring and advising on all aspects of local public transport services.
Traffic and Parking
Working with Council officers, police and other agencies on all matters relating to traffic management, parking and road safety. Member of the Bromley Road Safety Consultative Panel.
Other Association contacts (non-Committee)
Editor
Production, editing and layout of the Gazette, advising on editorial policy, management of external printers, setting print and delivery schedules.
Gazette Distribution Officer
Management of the Gazette distribution network of Distributors and Road Stewards.
Advertising
Management of our advertising including all invoicing, collection of revenue and associated records. Liaison with advertisers, both current and prospective and our printer.
