Dear PWDRA member
As you would have read in this month’s Gazette, we are leading a project to improve the underpass into the woodland from Hazelmere Road. Our aim is to transform the underpass from a neglected space to a vibrant walkway by remodelling the barriers to make it more accessible and painting a mural.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stall at the May Fayre to tell us what they would like to see included in the mural. We had over 300 votes - the fox, owl and robin were the top picks. It was great to hear all your positive feedback about how you’d love to see the tunnel spruced up to be a bright and inviting walkway.
We are delight to have appointed James Daw as our artist. He is now working on a design unique for the tunnel. Whilst he has given us a few images that you can see in this blog, it will take a few more weeks before he is able to share the final design.
We have to raise funding to be able to pay for the improvement activities and whilst the PWDRA has committed funds to get the project up and running, we have needed to apply for grants from other organisations. We have accepted a generous grant from The Chislehurst Society and are awaiting feedback from Network Rail. However, we need to raise more money if we are to get the mural painted this summer.
If you would like to make a financial donation to the project, please click here to go to our fundraising page or find us at: https://crowdfunder.co.uk/p/hazelmere-underpass-mural .
We’d really appreciate it if you could share these links with anyone you think would be interested.
