The committee is appointed by the residents & members of the Petts Wood District Residents' Association, with all members of the team being volunteers.
Leading monthly committee meetings and adjudicating a vote on any issues that require it.
He/she is the figurehead for any disputes and delegates specific issues raised by members to the appropriate portfolio holder on the committee. Any controversial issues the Chair may decide to deal with personally.
Responsibilities also include writing a monthly article for the Association Gazette based on current issues of interest and chairing the Annual General Meeting and any other public facing forums. Adherence to the Association's constitution, or overseeing a democratic process of changing that constitution is also part of the role, along with any appropriate representation on behalf of the committee and/or members to the local authority on local issues of concern.
Deputising for the Chairman in his absence.
Treasurer: Responsible for the Association's accounts and banking. Includes bookkeeping and production of yearly accounts.
Responsibilities in relation to the minuting of the PWDRA Monthly Meetings and any Annual General Meetings.
Committee Portfolios & Associate Responsibilities
Picking up on community issues , including arranging events such as litter picking and PWDRA presence at events such as the May Day fayre.
Posting of articles to keep members informed on local issues not covered by other committee members.
Keeping in touch with the network of people and Friends groups who look after Petts Wood's 550 acres of woodland including the National Trust & Hawkwood Estate, Jubilee Country Park, Crofton & Sparrow Woods and Covet Woods. Reporting in The Gazette and online about developments and helping raise awareness of the wealth of nature and walks that are on our doorstep!
Matters relating to Health in and around Petts Wood,.
The PWDRA Membership Team are responsible for processing new members applications, collecting annual subscriptions and managing the team of Road Stewards and Distributors who deliver The Gazette on a monthly basis
Liaison with the printers of the Gazette and management of the email@example.com mailbox & telephone calls with a view to replying and including appropriate articles attached for publication in the monthly Gazette.
Articles submitted are read, edited and re-formatted with correspondence to the sender if any
changes were needed or if an article will be included..
In checking articles, ensuring they do not contain information that has
been plagiarised (respecting copyright) and if so, inform the person who sent the article.
Traffic & Parking
Matters relating to Traffic & Parking in and around Petts Wood. This may include parking restriction, road rule adherence, accident hot-spot discussions and associated matters.
Ensuring the diary of events is collated and made available within the printed circulated Gazette.
Provision of timely and accurate information to the Association and its members about public transport.
This concerns local rail and bus services and directly interconnecting mainline rail and TfL train and Tube services. Such information includes timetable changes, rail engineering works, and roadworks that affect local bus services.
In addition the officer may be invited, as a stakeholder, to attend meetings and webinars arranged by transport operators and infrastructure providers like Network Rail. The officer may also seek improvements to local public transport services and infrastructure through direct contact with transport organisations.
Planning - Monitoring all the planning, licensing applications and planning appeals for Petts Wood. Liaising with local councillors in respect of planning matters affecting our area.
Biggin Hill Airport
Biggin Hill Airport - monitoring airport matters and the impact that BHA has on the Petts Wood area. Liaising with Flightpath Watch. Attending meetings on behalf of PWDRA where airport matters are discussed.
Matters relating to Education in and around Petts Wood,.
Responsible for selling the advertising space in the Gazette and liaising with the printers for adverts. Includes invoicing advertisers, collecting payments, maintaining a waiting list and keeping a financial record of payments received split between payments for the year and prepayments. Liaising with the Treasurer concerning payments received.
